Canadian Tesla fans have something exciting to look forward to — the long-awaited Tesla Model Y Performance is finally coming to Tesla Canada in Q1 2026.
This update came directly from Raj Jegannathan, one of Tesla’s senior engineering leaders, who responded to a user’s question on X asking, “When can we get the Model Y Performance in Canada?” His simple answer: “Q1.”
While Jegannathan didn’t provide additional details, it’s expected that this means ordering will open in the first quarter of 2026, rather than deliveries beginning immediately. In other words, Canadian buyers may see the Model Y Performance appear on Tesla’s Canadian configurator by early 2026.
Shipping from Giga Berlin to Canada
Unlike the regular Model Y built in the United States, the new Tesla Model Y Performance for Canada will be exported from Giga Berlin to avoid the 25% tariffs on U.S.-made EVs.
That means first deliveries to Tesla Canada customers will likely start around spring 2026, about two to three months after orders open.
The vehicles will travel by ship from Germany to Halifax, before being distributed across the country — a process that typically adds several weeks to the delivery timeline.
Performance and Design Upgrades
The new Tesla Model Y Performance comes with significant performance and design improvements that distinguish it from the standard lineup.
