Tesla has dropped the price of the Tesla Model Y for sale in Canada by $20,000, bringing it back below pre-tariff levels.

Since this summer, Tesla updated its Canadian online configurator, listing the Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD) at $64,990, down from $84,990. This is also $5,000 lower than the pre-tariff price of $69,990 in April 2025.

Introduced a new Diamond Black paint

In addition to the price drop, Tesla introduced a new Diamond Black paint option for Canadian buyers. First launched in the U.S. earlier this year, the premium color is now available in Canada for $2,000.

While the Tesla Model Y for sale has seen a major price reduction, Tesla’s other vehicles in Canada remain at tariff-adjusted pricing with no discounts. This move strongly points to Tesla importing the Model Y exclusively from Giga Berlin—which only produces the Model Y—to bypass tariffs and boost Canadian sales. The price cut, along with other indicators, suggests Tesla is now importing the Model Y from Giga Berlin to avoid tariffs and keep prices competitive.

Since Canada imposed a 100% tariff on all Chinese-made EVs last year, importing from Giga Shanghai is no longer viable. Another clue supporting Berlin imports is the updated delivery window: current orders show an expected delivery in 2-3 months, a bit longer than the usual U.S. production timeline.
